Guide to Start Journalling and Clear Your Mind
Guide to start journalling for mind clarity

Do you often feel overwhelmed, confused, or stuck in a rut? The solution may be simpler than you think. Watch the video here on scroll to keep on reading!

Journalling, a practice that has been around for centuries, can be a really powerful tool for sorting out your thoughts, gaining clarity on life situations, and downloading inner solutions to move forward.

Check out my practical tips for how to start journalling and reap its benefits.

How to start journalling

1. Overcome the Initial Hurdle

Getting started with journalling can be daunting, especially if you’re not sure what to write. But fear not! The key is to approach it as if you’re having a conversation with your closest friend. Start by writing down how you’re feeling in this moment, allowing your thoughts and emotions to flow onto the page without judgment. This simple form of self-expression can feel so liberating.

2. Discover Self-Reflection

As you pour your thoughts onto the pages of your journal, you may find yourself naturally answering your own questions like some kind of wise sage! This process of self-reflection helps you gain insights into your own desires, needs, and aspirations. Take note of the solutions that emerge from your writing, such as “I need to call this person” or “I need to say no to this for my own sanity.” These realisations are actually your intuition coming through and can serve as catalysts for positive change in your life. Encourage yourself to answer your own questions. All the answers you’re looking for really are inside.

3. Unlock Deeper Insights with Journalling Prompts

If you’re finding it challenging to start writing, journalling prompts can be immensely helpful. These prompts act as thought-provoking questions that guide your writing and make the process easier. Answering specific questions allows you to delve deeper into your thoughts and emotions, ultimately leading to a greater understanding of yourself. As an added bonus, it keeps your writing focused and purposeful. An example of a simple journalling prompt to start off could be ‘What’s happening in my life right now? How am i feeling about it?’.

4. Utilise Self Care Playsheets

To kickstart your journaling journey, feel free to download my set of Self Care Playsheets that include a variety of journalling prompts. These prompts cover a wide range of topics, such as personal growth, gratitude and self reflection. These playsheets will give you an abundant resource to support your journaling practice. Find the self care playsheets here.

5. Empower Yourself and Trust Your Intuition

If you often find yourself seeking reassurance or approval from others, journalling can be a powerful tool to access your own intuition. By journalling regularly, you’ll learn to trust that your inner voice knows what is right for you. Your inner voice is incredibly powerful, it’s connected to source, the wise, loving, all-knowing point that we’re all connected by. Through journalling, you tap into this wisdom and gain clarity on the path that feels right for you.

6. Embrace Simplicity and Time Constraints

Journalling doesn’t have to be a massive undertaking that requires hours of your time. Even with limited availability, you can still benefit from quick journaling sessions. For example, if you find yourself in need of clarity but are pressed for time, simply grab your phone, open the notes app, and take two minutes to type out your thoughts. This mini journalling session can provide surprising insights and help you navigate your day with greater awareness.

Take action

Starting a journalling practice is like giving yourself free lifetime access to a therapist! It’s a tool to declutter your mind, gain clarity, and uncover solutions. By approaching your journal like you would a wise, loving friend, you’ll find yourself answering your own questions and unlocking new paths forward. I always think of it as cogs clicking into place to reveal new inspiring journeys.

Don’t forget to utilise my journaling prompts here and resources like the other Self Care Playsheets in that download to enhance your practice. If you feel you need more of a workbook journalling experience, where you can answer lots of specific questions all related to self reflection and boundary setting, you will love my Self Care Playbook too.

You don’t need a fancy journal to start (although that can be a good trick to get yourself to start)! Remember you can just use the notes app on your phone or a text file on your laptop to sort your thoughts out. Just open your heart and let the words flow.

Journalling is a personal, intimate journey, and even small moments of reflection can lead to profound insights. Empower yourself, trust your intuition, and embrace the simplicity of journaling.

Share this with a friend that could use a bit of journalling in their life! xo
